About Us
Welcome to a place where every child is heard, supported, and valued. Here, compassion creates safety, guidance builds confidence, and hope grows stronger each day. Our mission is to help children and their families find stability and move forward—because every child deserves the opportunity to shine.
The Florida Keys Children’s Shelter is more than a safe place to stay. Since 1985, our residential and community-based programs have provided care, counseling, and support to thousands of children and families throughout the Florida Keys during times of challenge and transition.
We are committed to offering thoughtful, individualized services for children experiencing family conflict, crisis, abuse, neglect, or instability. Whether a child needs short-term shelter, counseling, or family support, our team works alongside families to strengthen relationships, build resilience, and create brighter futures.
All services are provided at no cost to families. Our work is made possible through funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, the Florida Department of Children and Families, and Monroe County (FL) Human Services, as well as the generosity of private donors and community partners.
We are deeply grateful for the continued support of the Keys Children’s Foundation, Ocean Reef Community Foundation, Helen’s Hope Foundation, the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, the Fred M. Klaus and Harold L. Murphy Charitable Foundation, and the Katherine Wells MacMillan Foundation. Their partnership helps ensure that children and families in our community receive the care and encouragement they deserve.
